Spring into Action
by James Jarvis
Spring is here—a time for new beginnings, clearing out the old and determining what’s next in your life. Spring is an initiation and an invitation to bring to light the wisdom germinated in the darkness of winter. As nature shoots forth, it’s time for you to take action as well, by sharing more of who you are and breaking through with new ideas for the coming year.
Mercury in Pisces is retrograde 3/2 (3:39am) until 3/25 (8:36am), so “mindfulness” in all forms of communication is essential. Mercury retrograde in Pisces exposes weaknesses in communication skills and asks us to be more compassionate.
With Venus in Aquarius from 3/5-4/6 you have an opportunity to broaden and clarify your values. Venus in Aquarius helps you envision a new relationship paradigm beyond co-dependency. Let Venus in Aquarius help open your heart to greater intimacy and authenticity in all of your relationships.
The full moon at 24 degrees Virgo on 3/14 (6:36pm) will help you nurture the connection between body and mind. Use this next month to determine what your body needs in order to support your emotional health. Maybe it needs more exercise, nutritional balance or better stress management. Use the positive qualities of Virgo—discernment and discrimination—to put your daily life into more coherent order.
Jupiter in Scorpio retrogrades 3/4-7/6 and then squares Neptune in Aquarius 3/16-28, fostering idealism and vision. Take some time to engage your imagination. You will find it easier to get in touch with a higher vision for your life at this time.
The Sun in Aries 3/20 (1:26pm) heralds the Spring Equinox of equal days and nights. Aries is symbolized by the catalytic process and by acts of initiation and innovation. Our job during Aries is to spring into action in new ways. Use your natural leadership and delegation skills to empower others to join whatever projects you are committed to.
Mars in Gemini is in a challenging relationship with Jupiter in Scorpio from 3/23-24. Try balancing your need to get things done (Mars) with your desire for deep connection with others (Jupiter in Scorpio). Much can be accomplished if you take others’ needs into consideration.
The new moon and total solar eclipse at 8 degrees Aries on 3/29 (5:16am) challenges us to ask for what we need for emotional fulfillment. Moon in Aries calls you to fully determine your needs so you can be present and authentic with others. Also, if there are any projects you’ve been putting off, use the new moon energy to get motivated and move into action.
Pluto will go retrograde at 26 degrees Sagittarius from 3/29 until 9/4. Pluto retrogrades are the time to reflect on how you are using your personal power. Do powerful people make you uncomfortable? If so, then this may be a time to consider if you are feeling disempowered in your life, and brainstorm ways to take control.
For Sun, Moon and Rising Signs
Aries (3/21-4/20)
Developing patience is key this month. Impatience represents fearing a lack of time. Worrying less about the future and concentrating on the moment is the strategy.
Taurus (4/21-5/21)
You are bursting with energy now, so make sure to find a creative outlet. Consider trying your hand at poetry, music or art.
Gemini (5/22-6/20)
Communicating from your heart is important this month. Your words have great power and may overwhelm. Revealing your truth with compassion will be a winning combination.
Cancer (6/21-7/20)
Time to exercise some “tough love” with intimates and co-workers. If your gut is tied in knots, make a difference by speaking the truth about what’s going on.
Leo (7/21-8/22)
Are you having an identity crisis? You’re like the onion whose old layers are being peeled off. The good news is that the change you’re going through will bring new authenticity.
Virgo (8/23-9/22)
You are being asked to break out of old ways of relating. Stretch yourself and experiment with your personal edge. By letting go of past hurts, you become far more available.
Libra (9/23-10/22)
Time to pay attention to the mind/body connection. It’s especially important to curb negative thoughts. Some sort of mindfulness practice will help you detach and remain calm.
Scorpio (10/23-11/21)
This year Jupiter in Scorpio will be at the same degree as your Sun. Take advantage of this expansive transit by being more visible at work and by developing new professional contacts.
Sagittarius (11/22-12/20)
What is your ideal scene? Do you have a clear vision of where you are going and how to get there? If not, it’s time to take that retreat you’ve promised yourself and find clarity.
Capricorn (12/21-1/20)
You’re becoming aware of the unconscious ways you slave-drive yourself. If you grew up in “survival mode,” part of you just can’t stop pushing. Awareness is the first step to change.
Aquarius (1/21-2/18)
Freedom has always been important to you, but now it’s essential. You may find yourself intolerant of others right now. Give yourself space and allow yourself the independence you crave.
Pisces (2/19-3/20)
Authentic expression and in-the-moment awareness are key this month. You may be more emotionally detached than usual. It’s the difference between empathy and sympathy.
