Celebrating Women

wf3Create your own map for success

Women make up slightly more than 50 percent of the U.S. population and have given birth to 100 percent of it, so what’s the deal? Only about 15 percent of Fortune 500 companies have women on their boards of directors, and although women have seen more parity in wages for the same jobs in the past few years, at this rate it will be 2050 before their compensation is equal to men’s.

On the other hand, more than 28 percent of U.S. businesses are women owned, which means that at least one-fourth of the economy is dependent on women. The Third Annual International Women’s Festival in Santa Barbara will honor and celebrate the “accomplishments, philosophies and connections” of women and do its darndest to inspire more. Produced by two successful entrepreneurs (women, natch) it will address the crucial issues facing women today in every area of their lives, with a program of powerful speakers and a special appearance by Sing for Hope, a nonprofit that mobiizes hundreds of artists who donate their time in volunteer service. (Isn’t that just so typical of women to take care of others even as they take care of themselves?)

So come on out, women, and get some serious deets on your own roadmap for success. The world needs inspired women!
